If I were to ask you to name larger motorcycle rallies in Canada and the United States, what are the first names which would come to mind? Sturgis? Americade? Daytona Bike Week? Laconia? Perhaps Atlanticade and the Wharf Rat Rally? Do you know which ones are in Canada? Hopefully you don't guess or say "probably the ones that I have never heard of"
Depending on where you are located, you may or may not be aware of one held in Calgary, Alberta, Canada called The Rally In The Rockies. I must admit that while I found The Rally In The Rockies on Instagram, it was the first time that I had heard of it and did not initially realize how large it is.
The Rally in the Rockies is a 9 day motorcycle event occurring annually in August in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Calgary Harley-Davidson® spearheaded the event in 2020 and is the Rally Headquarters. If you don't ride a Harley, please don't let this deter you from joining in on the fun as all motorcycle makes and models are welcome.
This year’s event will be held from Friday, August 13 to Saturday August 21, 2021.
Participants are encouraged to ride, trailer, rent or ship motorcycles to ride the beautiful Canadian Rocky Mountains. Riders may decide to venture out on their own following one of the self-drive routes available on the Rally website. Events during the rally include charity rides, show and shines, bull riding, drag racing, bbq competition, and concerts.
Accommodation options include campgrounds and hotels with an opportunity to benefit from Rider Friendly Business Network Discounts.

I would have loved to participate in the event this year however my 2nd vaccine is scheduled for Friday, August 13th in the late afternoon which, if anything like my first shot, will probably result in me spending most of the weekend on the couch. After my husband Lloyd and I received our first Pfizer shot in mid-April, I had fatigue for 2 days while he had enough energy to spend the following day doing yard work. As I have heard that side effects might increase after the 2nd dose, I wonder what tasks Lloyd might feel compelled to complete as there is always something on the list 😂
While I am excited for those who will be participating in this year’s rally and encourage you to go if you are able, I am proud to share that I have partnered with The Rally In The Rockies and am blessed to share that I will be a participant in 2022.
While planning is in very early stages, I will be organizing a ride from my home province of Ontario to Calgary, Alberta to promote The Rally In The Rockies and JUSTRIDIN.
This event will be called JUSTRIDIN WITH ANG and riders will have an opportunity to join me for legs of my journey which I will share through blogs and vlogs. If you don't ride - no problem as all will be welcome to participate.
I will be scheduling several stops along the way where I will share my story to select groups to demonstrate what can be achieved with grit, determination and a positive outlook. As my tales of determination touches on a variety of topics including bullying, breast cancer and being born with a limb difference, I will also be promoting the importance of diversity and inclusion.
There will be opportunities to buy inspirational tshirts, “WHY DISCOURAGE WHEN YOU CAN ENCOURAGE” patches, in addition to other merchandise to support my journey.
I have selected WELLSPRING CANCER SUPPORT NETWORK as my main charity as I have not only been a user of their services while going through treatment for breast cancer, I also had the good fortune to be a Peer Support Volunteer.
Wellspring is a Canada-wide network of community-based centres, each offering programs and services, at no charge and without referral, to anyone, with any type of cancer, at any stage in their journey.

Until next time, please be safe and keep well!
